Colonizing Mars
For a long time it sounded like a good science fiction novel, now it is within the grasp of mankind. As of January 2017, Congress signed a piece of legislation mandating we send a manned mission to Mars by 2025. Rewind the clock and that places our Freshmen through Seniors as the recruitment ages for the future astronauts. We will need astronaut: farmers, welders, medical technicians, engineers, pilots, communication specialists, photo journalist, etc. It is the dawn of a new space race. Through this unit we will analyze what it will take to get humanity to Mars, the ethos, the excitement and the failure. Project Handout Colonizing Mars
The Journey to the Future Begins with the Past
Newton's Laws started humanity on a journey to the moon. The simple formula of forces equals mass multiplied by acceleration gave us the moon. There are many great minds of men and women who got us to space and beyond. We will look at classical physics to begin our journey to Mars.
